During a guided excursion one will learn the history of the widmill, understand how it operates and how grains becomes flour, with a chance to grind grains using a hand mill and enjoy the panoramic views to the surrounding countryside.

Āraiši Windmill was built for the needs of Drabeši Manor in the middle of the 19th century. These Dutch-style mills were typical on Latvian territory from the 14th century. The Mill has a rotating top. All the mechanisms have been restored and it is in full working condition.
Every year “Bread Day” is celebrated on the last Sunday of July. It marks the first crop of rye along and master bakers arrive here with their special bread for tasting, exchanging recipes and other activities.
